How to use search
How search works:
Title
MUST
begin with the first word from your query. So, searching for song "fire" will
NOT
find "Fuel my fire". Otherwise search would be just too slow. If you don't remember the exact beginning of the title, use catalogue or full-text search.
Words in title
MUST
be in the same order they're in your query. Thus, "Fuel fire my" won't find "Fuel my fire", but "Fuel fire" will.
In band title, when searching for "Band", search is automatically done for "The Band". So searching for band "Beatles" would find "The Beatles" too, but "The Beatles"
WON'T
find "Beatles".
In band title, when searching for "First Last", search is automatically done for "Last First" too. So searching for band "Bob Dylan" would find "Dylan Bob" as well, and vice versa.
Word beginnings are searched, not just search words. So searching for song "Fuel" will not only find songs with title "Fuel", but also "Fueled", "Fuel my fire"; searching for band "Myl Farm" will find "Mylene Farmer" (and due to previous rule, it will also find "Farmer Mylene"), etc.
Albums are not correctly filled for all the songs, so album field might be thrown out if search produces no results. So album titles are of less use.
Common problems:
Typos.
Be sure to double check for typos. People search for NSync, Nataly Imbruglia, Red Hot Chillie Peppers and Metalica and fail, for we only have
'N
Sync,
Natalie
Imbruglia, Red Hot
Chili
Peppers and Metallica in our database.
Spelling.
When in doubt how's the word spelled, use
"Sounds like"
search feature. It might sometimes return a lot of irrelevant results but remember that if there is a relevant result, it
must
be listed.
Less info is sometimes better.
Whitespace in your query actually matches any character, so it's usually enough to enter only a
part
of a title. For example, you want Red Hot Chili Peppers but you're not sure how do we spell Chili and whether it's Pepper or Peppers. No problem, just enter
"Red Hot Ch Pepp"
. Another example: it's enough to query for "Nat Imbr" to find Natalie Imbruglia without having to care whether she's Nataly, Natalie or Natasha.
Last names first.
Some artists in the databases are stored with last names first, so don't forget to look for "Dylan Bob" when browsing catalogue. Note that when you search for Bob Dylan, our engine automatically looks for both Bob Dylan and Dylan Bob.
Search for artist.
Whenever you're not certain about how's that song called, search for it's author and browse the list. For example, you might search for Chris Rea's "A road to hell" and fail, as the exact title "The road to hell" - but you could easily find that song by searching for Chris Rea.

Nothing found?
Possible reasons:
you have a typo in your query (e.g. Metallllica),
different strings in your query and our database (e.g. Powerman 5k in your query and Powerman 5000 in database),
we don't have these lyrics currently.
What to do now:
check your query for typos carefully,
retry search with "Sounds like" option enabled,
browse the catalogue for the artist you need,
try fulltext search.
Fulltext search features
Fulltext search will only find lyrics when
ALL
words are present in the text or titles in their
EXACT
form. There are no other conditions.
Lyrics in which words are closer to each other are ranked higher. Lyrics in which words form the phrase exactly matching with your query are ranked highest. So, even if your search returned thousands of matches, browse through some first pages, you might just find what you're looking for.
Fulltext search does not filter out common words (I, we, they, all, etc), so it's generally better to use them as little as possible to find more relevant matches.
Try to enter only those words that you're sure were in the song, and also please note that there easily might be "them" instead of "'em" in the text (or vice versa, "'cause" instead of "because") and the engine treats these as different words.
